Straw is waste material left in the field after crop harvesting. At present, the most common way to use straw is to process it into fuel, for example, turn straw into biomass pellets or charcoal. How to turn straw into pellets, and what are the steps?
Processing straw into pellets needs a straw pellets production line, it generally including the following steps: First, raw material preparation. Various types of straw, such as corn stalks, wheat straw, soybean straw, and peanut vines, are collected together, remove impurities, soil, stones, and other foreign objects. Then, cut and crush the straw to get material with a length of 3-5cm and a particle size of less than 5mm, facilitating later processing. Next, use a rotary dryer to dry the straw. Since the moisture content of straw has a big influence on pellet formation, it needs to be dried to a moisture content of 12%-15%. The pellets made from straw with this moisture content have a smooth surface, no cracks, and are of better quality. The next key step is pelletizing. The processed straw raw material is fed into a biomass pellet machine. The pellet machine, through its internal molds and pressure rollers, compresses the straw into pellets under appropriate pressure and temperature. During the pelleting process, some binders, such as starch and lignin, can be added as needed to improve the pellet's forming effect and stability. Finally, the temperature of pellets just coming out of the pellet machine is very high, so it requires a cooling machine to lower their temperature before packaging.
The complete process of processing straw into pellets includes equipment such as crushers, rotary dryers, pellet machine, and coolers, all interconnected, and each step affects the final product quality. Zhengzhou Jiutian has mature technology in biomass pellet production. If you want to make straw pellets but are unfamiliar with the technology, please feel free to contact us.
