Sludge drying is an intermediate sludge treatment process that consists of evaporating the water in the sludge. Jiutian Sludge Dryer is used for drying a variety of sludges, biosolids and by-products, to generate dry stable products, reduce disposal cost and convert waste into marketable by-products.
Sludge is the industrial waste generated during the production process of municipal sewage processing. Because sludge has many disadvantages such as high moisture content, high viscosity, high water holding capacity, and low calorific value. It is difficult to achieve industrial utilization. Jiutian operated a series of technical researches on the current market situation of sludge treatment and the characteristics of sludge in various regions. Jiutian Company concentrating created a new generation of sludge rotary drum drying system, drying product moisture can be reduced less than 25%, it totals achieved the standard of sludge landfill and further incineration processing conditions. The technology of equipment gets absolutely mature enough, also it has a stable capacity for operation and very convenient to operate and maintain.

Wet sludge with about 80% moisture and high viscosity is first pre-dewatered by three-belt filter presses, reducing moisture to 55–60%. It then enters the rotary drum dryer for staged drying.
Inside the drum, the material passes through six zones. In the feeding zone, sludge contacts high-temperature hot air for rapid surface evaporation. In the crushing and cleaning zone, lifting and beating devices break sticky lumps into 20–40 mm granules, forming a material curtain to increase heat exchange while preventing wall adhesion.
In the main drying and secondary crushing zones, the loosened material is continuously lifted and dispersed, with particle size reduced to 10–20 mm (as required) and moisture further decreased. In the enhanced drying zone, dense lifting plates ensure sufficient heat absorption to meet discharge standards.
Finally, in the discharge zone, the drum has no lifting plates to minimize dust, and the sludge exits smoothly with a final moisture content of about 20–25%, completing the drying process.
