Okara is a waste residue generated during the processing of soy products, such as tofu residue, soy milk residue, etc. Bean product processing plants produce a large amount of wet okara every day. If not treated in a timely manner, it can cause environmental pollution. Okara is rich in nutrients such as crude protein and fiber, and has high value in the feed industry. Zhengzhou Jiutian has developed a complete set of okara dehydration production line based on the characteristics and market demand of soybean residue. With the help of efficient filter presses and thermal drying dual processes, okara can be turned into treasure, bringing economic benefits to soybean product manufacturers.
The okara dehydration production line mainly consists of two parts: primary dehydration and deep dehydration.
The primary dewatering adopts a belt dewatering machine for mechanical extrusion dewatering of wet okara, in this part, the moisture content of okara can be reduced from 75-85% to 50-65%. The okara belt dewatering machine can work continuously and has good dewatering effect.
To further reduce the moisture content of soybean residue, a specialized okara dryer is needed. Wet okara has high viscosity, high protein content, and is easy to gelatinization and denaturation. These characteristics have high requirements for drying technology, drying temperature, and drying time. Zhengzhou Jiutian Machinery Company has innovated the drying process based on the characteristics of okara, and developed a new type of okara flash dryer and okara rotary dryer. The okara flash dryer is equipped with a rotating shear device. Wet soybean residue is crushed, refined, and highly dispersed by shearing, rotating, colliding, and rubbing in the airflow, and the moisture content is quickly dried to within 12%.
For the okara rotary dryer, the soybean residue enters the drum and is evenly dispersed and fully contacted with hot air in the dryer under the flipping of the evenly distributed plate inside the drum. This accelerates the heat and mass transfer during drying. The soybean residue is discharged from the star shaped discharge valve in another section of the dryer under the action of the inclined plate and heat medium.
After drying, okara has many high value-added uses:
1. Animal feed
Okara contains high protein and dietary fiber, and can be used as high-quality feed materials for pigs, cows, sheep, and aquaculture. They are low-cost, nutritious, and have good animal palatability.
2. Cat litter
Dried okara has strong water absorption, agglomeration, and deodorization properties, making it pet friendly. After use, it can be degraded and is an ideal raw material for cat litter production.
Zhengzhou Jiutian provides a complete set of comprehensive utilization solutions for okara dehydration and drying, and we have many project sites in various places. If you would like to learn more, please feel free to contact us at any time.
